FAST™ Helps Operator Work By Himself

Rusty Schroeder, Mechanicsville, IA, built a FAST barn last summer after he expanded his farrow-to-finish operation. Schroeder, who operates independently without hired help, opted for FAST so that he could sort and load pigs himself. He built a 1,000-head finisher with two FAST scales. Schroeder moved pigs into the barn in October 2002. He says the pigs seem really “mellow” in the new facility. “They are very relaxed – you kind of just walk over them,” he says. Schroeder also likes his new Farmweld Jumbo Feeders. “They are really easy to adjust,” he says.
