Swine Vet Center Doc Weighs in on FAST Scale

Jeff Feder, a consulting veterinarian with the Swine Vet Center, P.A., St. Peter, MN, was recently asked his views of FAST facilities. “We are at the point of feeling comfortable with the concept of automatic sorting,” says Dr. Feder.

Dr. Feder says he sees several advantages of automatic sorting technology, especially lower sort losses, access to split-weight feeding, new options for feeding Paylean® and the ability to get actual growth information in real time. “Just to get a growth curve on every turn could be a huge dollar advantage,” says Dr. Feder. He says the information will help producers make better decisions about nutrition and marketing.
