Visually scanning a pen of nursery pigs
for signs of illness or injury is a whole lot easier on
Farmweld’s orange plastic flooring versus darker, dingier
flooring choices. That’s the word from Farmweld customer
Steve Fenstermaker, who with his brother, Dave, and father,
Paul, last year replaced a nursery room full of galvanized
flooring with Farmweld’s orange plastic panels. The
Fenstermakers have a 2,400-head nursery at their farrow-to-finish
operation in Leipsic, OH.
"What's the best thing about the orange
panels? “Brightness,” says Steve. “It
is easier to spot pigs, and you can make sure the floor
is clean after you wash it. Dirt shows up a whole lot better
on the orange than other floors."
Easy to Clean
Farmweld’s flooring is not only
easy to clean because of its color but also because of
its make-up. The high quality polypropylene used to make
Farmweld panels molds evenly without the use of fillers
or foaming agents. This makes it less porous than other
materials so debris and microorganisms are less likely
to cling to the panels. That means there’s less risk
of harboring disease, according to veterinary experts.
Farmweld also took care in the design of the panels to
eliminate most of the crevices or recessed areas where
debris can collect and hide.
Warm Surface
Farmweld plastic panels provide a warm
surface that doesn’t rob pigs’ body heat. The
pigs remain comfortable. The panels are an ideal choice
for creep areas in farrowing rooms as well as nurseries.
Heavy-Duty
The large, 18 x 24” (458 x 610
mm) panels are heavy-duty to hold up to pig wear and tear.
The unique stabilizer corners provide a full inch of vertical
beam support so beams won't tip and panels won't slip.
Panels interlock with a positive connection without gaps.
Pigs can't separate panels. Galvanized steel beams or fiberglass
beams that resist corrosion are available in various sizes.
Farmweld also gets high marks from the
Fenstermakers for customer service. “Service means
a lot – the people there are a friendly group and
so helpful,” says Steve.
The Fenstermakers are convinced that
they picked the best option when they replaced the nursery
flooring. “We priced other flooring but felt the
Farmweld was better quality,” says Steve. |
