Farmweld Jumbo Feeders: Important Production Tool
Kim Brenneman
For the past ten years or so, Farmweld’s Jumbo Feeders have been an important
production tool in Kim Brenneman’s Elida, OH, pork production system. Brenneman, who owns
a 5,000-sow farrow-to-finish operation, utilizes the feeders in about 30 barns, including several
contract grower facilities throughout Ohio.
According to Brenneman, the
Farmweld Jumbo Feeder is ideal for
wean-to-finish because smaller pigs
can step into the feeder to access
feed, yet the feeder has a “nice big
opening” so large pigs can eat
without struggling.
Brenneman is especially fond of the
Jumbo Feeder’s click-style adjustment
feature (click or crank adjusters are
options). He says that allows him to
give growers verbal instructions for
precise feeder adjustment such as,
“set it two notches from the top.”
Brenneman is also impressed with the heavy construction of Farmweld’s feeders. “They are well built and do what they are supposed to do,” he says. As a matter of fact, when Brenneman
recently remodeled a nursery into a farrowing facility, he removed several Farmweld Nursery
Feeders. He says the 7-10-year old feeders look like new.
“We’ve had good luck with these feeders,” says Brenneman.
