What Makes
a Great Feeder?
Dr. Mike
Brumm was recently asked to describe
feeder greatness. Here’s what
he had to say:
“Ideal
feeders have a large feeding area
so pigs can eat unobstructed. When
a pig raises its head during normal
eating, feed should drop in the
pan, not on the floor.”
“Feeders
should have solid dividers so a
pig is protected from attack, and
also that he senses that he is protected.”
Brumm was
the lead researcher in three widely-referenced
trials
to evaluate water disappearance
using various drinkers and feeders.
