Last year’s Automatic
Sorting Technology
Seminar drew 400
people and was touted
in pork publications as
the big happening at
World Pork Expo. This year’s seminar
is poised to be even
bigger. You’ll hear
from many viewpoints
– a packer, a veterinarian,
producers who
use automatic sorting,
an expert in barn
design and a software
developer. If you are
interested in pork production,
you won’t
want to miss this
seminar.
 |
Brian Stevens, Hormel Foods corporate manager of pork
procurement, will discuss the importance of carcass quality and uniformity
and the value automatic sorting technology brings to delivering a branded
product. |
 |
Frank Brummer, Farmweld’s owner and president, will discuss
facility considerations and highlight the innovative, new FAST II AlleyTM
Design. This is a simple, cost-effective option for retrofitting conventional
finishing into automatic sorting facilities. |
 |
Gehl Mittelsted is co-owner and manager of Squealers Pork, Inc.,
Austin, MN. Squealers operates eight farrowing sites and has pigs in multiple
barns with automatic sorting. Gehl will discuss how automatic sorting helps
his organization better plan marketing and sell heavier pigs. |
 |
Dr. Tom Wetzell,
American Association of
Swine Veterinarians 2004
Swine Practitioner of the
Year, will speak about the
impact of large pens and
sorting on labor, animal
welfare and handling. Dr.
Wetzell is president of South
Central Veterinary Associates,
Wells, MN.
|
 |
Tom Jansen, a Mason,
IL, contract finisher, operates
one FAST II™ facility
with a food court and
recently retrofitted another
facility using the FAST II
Alley™ Design. Tom will talk
about converting older facilities
and pig handling. |
 |
Robert Baarsch, LeRoy,
MN, pork producer and software
developer, will discuss
new radio frequency identifi-
cation (RFID) technology that
ties with automatic sorting.
He’ll also introduce eBarn™, a
new password-protected,
web-based system to
monitor scale information
from any online computer. |
A reception honoring Farmweld’s
25th Anniversary will follow
the seminar. The first 400 pre-registered participants
will receive a gift commemorating Farmweld’s 25th Anniversary.
Past seminars have drawn huge audiences so get there when
doors open at 3:00 PM!
