Leadership
During the mid-80s, Farmweld introduced the first large sow feeder
that enhanced comfort and consumption. It was ranked in a landmark
University of Illinois study as the
best sow feeder on the market.
In 1993, Farmweld introduced a high quality plastic nursery flooring
panel that swept the industry. Today, Farmweld's bright orange flooring
panels are widely considered the easiest to clean, most durable
flooring available.
Farmweld has also been on the forefront of the highly popular management
option: wean-to-finish.
According to Dr. Hank Harris in his book, Multi-site Pig Production,
Farmweld president Frank Brummer has had a great impact on US swine
industry and the adoption and success of wean-to-finish facilities.
Brummer first became intrigued with the concept of wean-to-finish
during the mid-90s when he heard results reported from an Iowa operation
raising weaned pigs in adapted finishing facilities. ( Click

Brummer started testing various feeder designs and by early 1997,
offered the industry's first commercially-available, wean-to-finish
feeder, followed in 1998 by the industry's first wean-to-finish
water cup. Today, the Farmweld Jumbo Feeder and Farmweld DRIK-O-MAT®
Water Cup continue to be major forces in wean-to-finish, recognized
for their outstanding utility and top performance.
Brummer
has been asked to deliver numerous presentations on the topic of
wean-to-finish, including at the 1998 Indiana Pork Congress, the
1998 and 1999 annual meetings of the American Association of Swine
Practitioners and the 1998 Allen D. Leman Swine Conference sponsored
by the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.
